Brian Brainerd, LEED AP, is a green builder and building science professional in Denver, Colorado. Sustainable building has been a core value of his business practices as an urban pioneer and developer in Lower Downtown loft market of Denver.
This blog documents the observations and data collected during research to implement energy efficiency solutions to existing homes and light commercial buildings.
Prior to starting US Weatherizing, Brian was a newspaper photojournalist for the Denver Post. Spending 26 years traveling the intermountain west for “The Voice of the Rocky Mountain Empire” He also has freelanced for The New York Times since 1991. Brian’s most memorable stories include searching for the Marlboro Man and the Yellowstone Fires of 1988.
He was twice nominated for a Pulitzer Prize by the editor of the Denver Post. He continues his editorial work with this blog and his photography of the modern American West to be published as a coffee table book titled Frontier Hangover.
